The Client

A hidden gem with the wrong digital footprint

Enjoy Fitness Studio is the definition of a local success story. Owner Mark and his team have built a trusted studio in Warsash over 15 years, offering personal training, small group PT and nutrition coaching in a genuinely community-led setting.

The problem was not the business itself. It was the digital infrastructure around it. The website had become a legacy burden: outdated, expensive, difficult to manage and misaligned with the studio's local mission.

The Strategy

Audit first, build second

Our first job was not to jump into design. It was to listen, audit and understand intent. What we found was a business paying for bloat, including unnecessary domain subscriptions and a WordPress.org site running on an obsolete PHP version.

The bigger issue was strategic. The website was ranking globally for an old blog post about calories in alcohol. On paper, traffic looked strong. In reality, it was almost entirely worthless to a local fitness studio in Warsash.

People in America or Australia reading about beer calories were never going to book a PT session in SO31. Our goal was clear: pivot the strategy away from global vanity metrics and toward local commercial intent.

  • Remove technical debt and reduce avoidable subscription costs.
  • Rebuild the site around local search behaviour and commercial relevance.
  • Create a member journey that works properly on mobile.

Phase 1

The high-performance rebuild

We stripped back the noise and rebuilt the website from the ground up with a fast, clean and modern interface designed to perform properly on mobile. Google Search Console data informed the new metadata, structure and page priorities so the site spoke to the right audience.

Instead of ranking for irrelevant global blog traffic, the site was re-engineered for the searches that actually matter to the business: people nearby looking for a gym, a personal trainer, or fitness classes close to home.

  • Targeted searches such as "Gyms near me" and "Personal Trainer Warsash".
  • Improved page structure, metadata and on-site messaging for local relevance.
  • Delivered a cleaner mobile experience and a faster technical foundation.

The Data Impact

What changed once Google understood the real business

By cleaning up the junk traffic, we gave Google a far better signal about what Enjoy Fitness Studio actually is and who it serves. That shift unlocked more meaningful visibility, particularly on mobile, where local customers make quick decisions.

The result was stronger branded search demand, materially better click-through rates, and improved rankings for high-intent local queries that were previously buried deep in the results.

  • Clicks for "Enjoy Fitness Warsash" rose from zero to 114, securing the top position.
  • Mobile CTR increased from 1.5% to 7.3%, a near fivefold improvement.
  • Terms like "Small Group PT near me" and "Yoga near me" moved from page 5 and 6 into competitive positions.

Phase 2

Removing software friction with bespoke technology

The next bottleneck was the booking experience. The studio was tied to a third-party system that felt slow, awkward on mobile and visually disconnected from the rest of the brand. It added friction at the exact moment a user was trying to commit.

To solve that, we developed Hampshire Bookings, a bespoke WordPress plugin tailored to the needs of local service businesses. Rather than locking the client into endless monthly software subscriptions, we built a booking system the studio could own and manage directly.

  • Basket functionality so customers can book multiple classes in one transaction.
  • Secure Stripe payments designed around PCI-DSS and GDPR-compliant handling.
  • Dashboard control for schedules, bookings and moving customers between classes.
  • Payment link reminders for failed or incomplete bookings to reduce lost revenue.

The Result

From hoping for walk-ins to managing demand

The most rewarding outcome has not been a graph. It has been the operational shift inside the studio. Before the rebuild, trainers were often waiting and hoping for cash-paying walk-ins. Now the team actively encourages members to book early because sessions are filling up.

By removing both transactional friction and technical friction, Enjoy Fitness can focus on what it actually does best: coaching people well and delivering a strong in-person experience.

Client perspective

“Working with Hampshire Marketing has been a breath of fresh air. The new site is fast, looks great, and finally gives us control. It is also helping us reach more people locally, which is exactly what we needed.”

Partnership

A partnership built on honesty

At Hampshire Marketing, we value clients who are willing to move beyond the "way it has always been done". Enjoy Fitness Studio is a strong example of what happens when local expertise, technical clarity and data-led strategy come together.

The studio now has a digital presence that feels as professional and welcoming as the service delivered in person, while also reducing unnecessary software overhead and creating a better foundation for future growth.
